Song of the Week: music mashups by Norwegian Recycling

Posted in Music, Song of the Week by phoenyx57 on March 29, 2009

This week we have the awesome mashups of a guy from Norway. I heard his music kinda by accident. Okay, I was bored at work and was basically clicking the “Stumble Upon” button every five minutes. His music mashup titled “How Six Songs Collide” came up and the title alone just made me click that darn play button. Let’s just say, I was hooked. Give it a hear:

Song of the Week: “Captured” by Christian Bautista & Sitti

Posted in Song of the Week by phoenyx57 on March 22, 2009

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these. Here’s a wonderful song that has managed to worm itself into my head this past week and has refused to leave since. It’s “Captured” as sung by Christian Bautista and Sitti Navarro. If you want to hear the original version (sung by Christopher Lawrence), you’ll hear it here: http://www.myspace.com/stonesthrowmusicdemos

Both versions are just wonderful. Enjoy!

a bit about tlw 6.07 Last Couple Standing

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on March 6, 2009

Okay, so I skipped the 6th episode. I saw a recap of it and had no wish to subject myself to more of Jenny being a total bitch at everyone. Not that this episode is any better at it, but at least there is an added bonus of a Dylan/Helena resolution. A wonderful drama free resolution at that. Finally. Though, from the looks of the finale previews, I shouldn’t be holding my breath. God, why am I still watching this show? Probably, because I’m a glutton for punishment, that’s why.

Anyway, to the highlights/snarkfest:

  • Leisha Hailey as Alice cracks me up everytime. She has some of the best lines this season so far. Definitely one of my favorite characters.
  • I love the little competition between Bette (jennifer Beals) and Alice during the dance marathon. It’s so reminiscent of their friendship in Seasons 1-3 and we’ve only seen bits and pieces of it the past couple of seasons.
  • I’m so convinced Jenny is gonna kill herself in the last episode. That, or the audience will. I don’t think the rest of the gang have it in them to commit Jenny-cide, no matter how the hate they girl.
  • Poor Shane. Feeling rather trapped now are we? Shane really has to grow up and stop being such a pushover.
  • Yay, for Dylan and Helena deciding to start anew. Rachel Shelley has been  looking particularly gorgeous in the past few episodes. Hopefully, that’s a good sign for her character. Just one more episode and Dylena will be home free.
  • Bette and Tina’s dance routine was pure win.
  • Alice, Tasha and Jamie’s dance routine had me laughing my ass off :D
  • Max isn’t in this episode, nor is he even mentioned. For someone who has a big storyline this season, he seems to be absent a lot.
  • Poor Alice. Leisha Hailey manages to be funny and gradually becoming vulnerable at a possible heartbreaking situation, by the end of the episode.
  • Last, but not least: How in heaven’s name are they gonna tie up all these loose ends in just one hour in the last episode?

just an ordinary day

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on March 3, 2009

Is it blase of me to say that I almost forgot what today is? My 29th birthday dawned both bright and dreary. As if nature was unsure what the general mood of the day should be. The sun would peek in for a moment or two, then go back to hiding. I don’t mind the weather’s uncertainty. It fits my mood today. Is it my age showing?

Perhaps.

Or perhaps not.

I don’t feel 29. Not really. Maybe the adage: “age is just a number” is actually true. It certainly feels like it is.

Bah! I’ve no idea what I’m saying with this post. Uncertainty and randomness is the theme for the day it seems.  One thing I’m certain, however, is that right now(at almost 3 decades of living in this world), I’m at peace. I know who I am. It took me awhile to figure it out and in truth, I’m still learning, but I accept it all, warts and all.

“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” –
