Just Me

some lovely poetry from e e cummings

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on December 30, 2008

I’ve just recently become a fan of this man’s work. While I’m a virtual novice at understanding poems, it doesn’t take a genius to know (or appreciate) that “i carry your heart with me” is one of the best and most beautiful poems ever written:

“i carry your heart with me” by e e cummings

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

And there are lot’s more of that from cummings and other poets to be found on this website, if you’re interested in poems.

happy new year!

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on December 29, 2008

Hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas. I spent mine at home with the usual suspects aka my family. It was the first time we actually hesitated to open gifts.  Auntie Leah wrapped her gifts in a beautifully hand crafted box that we were loathe to open them for fear of ruining them. I had to open mine very, very carefully and it is now serving as a container of some geekery stuff.

Man, 2008 went way too fast, didn’t it? Time for resolutions, except I don’t do resolutions. I do have a reading list

my reading list for 2009

my reading list for 2009

that’s getting higher and higher these past couple of months and hopefully, I’ll be able to finish them this coming year. Got a few projects lined up as well, so 2009 will be a very busy year for me. Not to mention the fact that I’ll also be turning 29 soon (yikes!).

So, what do I hope for the coming new year? Just the safety and good health of my family and friends. Everything else is just a bonus.

on the final season of TLW

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on December 12, 2008

Hmm . . . I’ve seen the spoilers and so far, I like the final season and look forward to seeing Lucy Lawless aka Xena/D’Anna Biers in her cameo and of course, Dylena.

I do hope that there is a happy ending in store for Helena (she is my favorite character in the show along with Alice and Shane). While I’m utterly delighted that Dylan aka the-only-person-ever-to-get-through-Helena’s-mask-but-fucked-up-royally is back and apparently groveling hard for forgiveness, I’m still a little bit cautious. This is after all, Ilene Chaiken we’re talking about and she does have a tendency to, eh, piss off her audience. And despite all the wonderful screenshots that have been appearing recently, I still can’t help but ask, what’s the catch?

In any case, I can’t wait for the season to start. Damn, January 18 seems so far away . . .
