looking for book recommends . . .
So, instead of a list of resolutions for this year, I have made a list of books I’m gonna read this year. If you’ve got any to recommend, feel free to add to the list. The more the merrier, I say. I love going book hunting
- Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clark (Already started this. Excellent dialouge).
- Labyrinth by Kate Mosse (Also started reading this. Adventure and time-slips, two of my favorite kinds of stories).
- Eragon by Christopher Paolini (Had this in my virtual bookshelf for some time. I swear I’m gonna read this before the movie comes out. Now if I could just find the correct CD).
- Eldest by Christopher Paolini (same as above. The sequel to Eragon)
- Orlando by Virginia Woolf (A nobleman is told to live forever young and he does. He exists for 400 years and even ends up becoming a woman. Got to say, it got my attention. Weird premise, but really intriguing).
- Wicked by Gregory Maguire (The story of the Wizard of Oz from the Wicked Witch of the West’s point of view.)
- Slow River by Nicola Griffith (Futuristic London where identities can be sold, made or erased).
- The Neverending Story by Michael Ende (We all know the movie. I finally tracked down an english translation of the novel. Am gonna read this before the year is out. Did you know that Bastian was actually a chubby little boy, not skinny as in the movie? And that Atreyu had green skin?).
- Emma by Jane Austen (What can I say? I actually found myself enjoying reading the classics.)
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling (Okay, this isn’t out yet, but rumors have abounded that the seventh and final book in the series will be released this year. And yes, this is the official title of the book. JKR revealed the title during the holidays.)
- Monkeewrench by P.J. Tracy (Just finished this last weekend. Fast paced mystery thriller.)
Got anymore to recommend? Feel free to add . . .
