Just Me

waiting . . .

Posted in random blabs by phoenyx57 on April 29, 2006

While I'm waiting for my downloads to finish, so I can go and play Sims 2 (hey it's the weekend, I'm entitled! :-D ) , I'm struck with an idea. Why don't I post something new on my blog. Yeah, that's what I'll do. Post something. Well, now I'm here and I'm stuck for something to say.

Bummer.

Hmm . . . let's see now . . . maybe I'll just write whatever comes to mind. There was this video I watched yesterday, from one of the blogs I visited. Not sure if it was someone from Thursday Thirteen or someplace else. I was kinda bloghopping all over the place. Anyway, back to the video. It was about this woman and the her "church" protesting at a funeral. she was being interviewed by Fox and . . . My God, does she actually believe what she's saying? I'm not a religious person myself, but I don't think God would condone this kind of behaviour. He is the God of Love, isnt' he? That woman had so much hate in her. I couldn't believe it. It was outrageous and very shocking. Imagine "thanking God for dead Soldiers" . . . that is just sick. It's not right.

Well, now . . . reading back through my post, it wasn't exactly what I was aiming for. I guess I'm still affected by what I saw in that video. Maybe my next post will be a mite more cheerful.

insane(?) woman . . .

. . . . or merely delusional? My God, I can’t believe so much hate can exist in one person and in the name of God as well. She’s . . . aargh . . . can she even hear what she’s saying? How can she get joy from hurting other people and say that it is the wrath of God? This is one sick woman. A really, really sick woman.

Thirteen Movies I can't wait to see

1. Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest — Can't wait to see Johnny Depp, Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom kick some pirate ass once again. And I absolutely love Mr. Depp's Jack Sparrow! Savvy?

2. The Da Vinci Code I loved the book and can't wait to see it's film adaptation, though I admit, it does seem a little weird to see Tom Hanks sporting that long hair.

3. Superman Returns – It's a plane! It's a bird! No . . . it's Superman!! Yay! The Man of Steel is back!. Hope Brandon Routh brings justice to the role.

4. Stick It — From the writer of Bring it On. I loved that movie as corny as it was, it was still a lot of fun to watch. Wonder if we have the spirit fingers in this one? Anyway, watched the trailer and it looks like a fun movie.

5. Ice Age: The Meltdown — because I'm just a little kid at heart ;D

6. Take the Lead — Antonio Banderas, enuff said. Plus dancing.

7. The Omen (remake) — Saw the trailer. Looked really good.

8. The Devil Wears Prada – coz a bitchy Meryl Streep looks like a lot of fun. And Anne Hathaway, aint that bad either.

9. D' Lucky Ones — This is a local movie that looks like a barrel of laughs. Who cares about the plot when you're laughing so hard from hilarious one-liners the actors spout off with incredible timing. God, I love Pinoy humor.

10. The Pink Panther – Steve Martin with a faux French accent.

11. Silent Hill — Haven't seen the trailer yet for this one, but it looks really interesting.

12. Inside Man — Denzel Washington is in it and that's always worth a watch.

13. Harry Potter and the Order of the PhoenixThis is probably one of my favorites in the HP series. I can't wait to see the DA; and the trio joined by Neville, Ginny and Luna in the fight in the Ministry of Magic. That was always my favorite part.

Thirteen Things about Nikki

  1. I have tonsilitis, plus a cough and a cold. All in all, not a very stellar week, thus far. I had a fever early this week because of this triple illnesses or whatever they're called, fortunately it was only for a couple of days. On the other hand I'm still stuck with an awful cough.
  2. We're going to Tingib this weekend. It's a place up on the mountains, which is not that far from where we live. Supposedly there's some kind of lake up there. My uncle who goes there and is actually in charge of the place invited us up there for some family bonding time. And when I say family, that includes my mom's 3 sisters and their families. Yes, we're very close-knit.
  3. Speaking of family, I'm the eldest grandchild on my mom's side, which means I get to play older sister to not just my two younger brothers but loads more cousins. There are some perks, of course. As the oldest, I've had the fortunate (or unfortunate) privilege of seeing all my cousins as babies. They can't really misbehave all that much, when you've seen them in their nappies. Tons of blackmail material hehehe . . .
  4. It's a hot, hot summer. The hottest I can remember. I can't wait to be well enough to hit the beach or lake or whatever as long as it's cold.
  5. If I can't hit the beach just yet, well I've got tons of reading materials. Couple that with a hammock in a nice shady and breezy area . . . equals a perfect afternoon. I can now try and read the books I've bought in the last couple of months, that I haven't been able to start reading coz of one thing or another.
  6. Books have always had a special place in my heart. I can't understand why some of my friends can't stand one, especially if it's a few inches thick. I don't mind if it's an epic, it only means that the story won't end too soon.
  7. I'm a little annoyed with Yahoo! Music at the moment. It keeps playing this stupid songs that are making me really sleepy and I can't skip them coz I've hit my skipping limit. Aargh!!
  8. I've got two electric fans trained on me and even then, it's still hot.
  9. Sundays have always been family day in our clan. When my Grandfather(my mom's dad) was alive, we'd all be spending Sunday at our Lolo's(grandfather) house, where my mom grew up. I remember once, when we were kids, my brother TJ and our cousin Mark found this odd crayolas and decided to do some coloring. I say they were odd cause, they didnt seem like ordinary crayolas. The texture was different. In any case, there we were happily drawing under a bed in one of the rooms when in comes my aunt. She takes one look at our coloring books and then at the box of crayolas and immediately panics. Turns out, they were oil pastels, the kind you use when painting on canvas. I'm not sure if oil pastels were what they were called, but I digress. The oil thingies were my grandfather's. He wasn't too happy with us at all. :D
  10. There are lots of childhood memories in that house and of my Grandfather. Another one was when he chased me, TJ, Mark and Kuya Mike around the house with a broom (I kid you not), because we allegedly "stole" some of his chocolate. Lolo had a sweet tooth that unfortunately for him we inherited. Actually, what he was mad at was that we didn't ask permission, but then again we were a bunch of smart aleck kids who could read. The box had a note that said "For the Kids". Logically, the four of us were kids and so didn't hesitate on getting some of those sweet, sweet things hehehe. By the way, Kuya sorta means "older brother/cousin" and is used as a term of respect, just in case you were wondering. Kuya Mike is my mom's adopted younger brother, and calling him uncle is a little odd when he's only a couple of years older than us, so we call him Kuya instead.
  11. And in case you were wondering, we did get grounded for that chocolate thing.
  12. I am called Ate, by my younger siblings and cousins. It's the female version of Kuya. It is pronounced phonetically. The "A" sounds like the "a" in bat.
  13. Filipino tradition calls for us younger generation to kiss the hands of our elders. Doesn't mean we actually kiss their hands, it's more like we take one of their hands and touch it to our foreheads as a sign of respect.

the easter bunny’s got it in for me . . .

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on April 17, 2006

The
past two Easters haven’t given me much joy. Don’t get me wrong, I think
it’s just incredibly wrong timing, really. Last Easter, I fell down a
hammock, or should I say the hammock fell and I fell with it, bruising
my tailbone in the process assuring that I wouldn’t be able to sit down
properly for about a week or two.

This Easter had something else in mind for little old me. Ayup, I
got sick. Tonsilitis, I think. Whatever it is, it does hurt my throat
when I swallow.  I knew something was wrong when I started feeling
chilled. As every usual Sunday, the family spends time together at my
parent’s fish farm and while it was pretty breezy most of the time
there, the wind wasn’t usually that cold. I should have known something
was up when I kept asking around if anybody felt cold and all I got
were confused faces. I wasn’t really paying much attention, to my
health, that is as I’ve been feeling out of sorts since Saturday and
have been attributing it to a cold.

Then, of course, my mom started serving ice cream. Now, sick or not, I’m not gonna pass on ice cream. Nu-uh, no way.

No wonder, I’m sick hehehe . . .

Anyway, long story short, I spent Easter half-delirious with fever.  Hopefully, I’ll be more lucky next time.

My, my,my, for a sick person, I sure am active today hehehe . . . might mean I'm getting better even if my throat hurts like hell.

Anyway, here's a slide-show I made a while back. It's mostly pics of me with my family and friends and the occasional godchild :D . The pics were taken from last year until recently. I'm the one in glasses.
