Just Me

Free in You

Posted in random blabs by phoenyx57 on July 31, 2005

A hard knock
A cold clock
Ticking off my time
A long look
But no luck
Couldn’t seem to find
Or unwind
Into peace of mind
While I was trying

A quick glance
A big chance
My heart beat like a drum
I saw you
And I knew
Chances just don’t come
Round again
Not like this
First a laugh
Then a kiss

And I’m free in you
I’ve got no worries on my mind
I know what to do
That’s to treat you right
And love you kind
Thank you ever on my mind
Love is just like breathing
When it’s true
And I’m free in you

The lost time
And self pride
Are my big mistakes
A clear voice
A bad choice
Sounding like an ache
In my day
Not too bad
But too real
To go away

But now I’m free in you
I’ve got no worries on my mind
I know what to do
That’s to treat you right
And love you kind
Thank you ever on my mind
Love is just like breathing
When it’s true
And I’m free in you

And I don’t know
How you show
Such gentle disregard
For the ugly in me
That I see
That for so long
I took so hard
(I took so hard)
And I truly believe
(I truly believe)
That you see the best in me
(That you see the best in me)
I’m in love
We all love
And that thought
Sets me free

Free in you
Got no worries on my mind
I know what to do
That’s to treat you right
And love you kind
Thank you ever on my mind
Love is just like breathing
When it’s true
And I’m free in you
Yes I’m free in you

bored . . .

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on July 28, 2005

Sometimes I just want to hide. Find some hidey hole somewhere and chuck myself in it for a time. Unfortunately, I can’t do that. Damn me and my principles.

Frustration and boredom are not a good combination let me tell ya. It’s kinda like being in a tunnel where you see this light at the end of it . . . and you know it’s close, but you just can’t reach it no matter how you try. It’s frustrating. And it gets boring coz you feel like you’re still in the same place you started. God, I’m so shit-faced.

yehey! i got to read Harry Potter 6!!!!

Posted in random blabs by phoenyx57 on July 18, 2005

MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD!!! – - – do not read further if you don’t wish to be spoiled.

That said . . . OH MY GOD!!! (that pretty much sums it all up . . .hehehe)

God, I don’t know where to start. I didn’t want to believe it. His death had been predicted many times in many HP forums and while I did have an inkling that it might happen, I didn’t think it would be in this book. Albus Dumbledore is gone and I simply cannot wait to see what happens to Harry now.

On a lighter note, Harry does get to date again . . . and to Ginny Weasly(YES!), no less. The after Quidditch scene was very cute hehehe. Ron and Hermione do drive each other crazy trying to make the other jealous . . . which was really fun to read. There is one couple in this book that was truly surprising, I didn’t even see it coming and no it isn’t Bill and Phlegm . . . I mean Fleur hehehe, though they do make several appearances in the book.

This book is awesome. Though, it was kinda weird at first to read about the romances suddenly cropping up at the school. I actually thought I was reading fan fiction because most of the predicted theories actually came true (who knew Rowling was a Harry/Ginny shipper as well as a Ron/Hermione one).

I’ve got to read it all over again . . . just to see if I missed anything (yeah . . I’m weird) . . . c ya!

lookee what i found!

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on July 13, 2005

I was browsing my CDs for whatever . . . wala lang . . . when I found this pic . . . wallpaper really. I remember making this montage as an exercise. Nag-aaral palang kasi ako ng Photoshop at that time. Anyway, I couldn’t help but reminisce about those times na dini-depict ng pictures. Those years were some of the most darkest moments of my life. My friends never really knew the depth of it, but as you can see, being with them sure helped out a lot. Since then, I’ve learned to accept myself and stop blaming myself for something that I couldn’t control. Friends_2

Anyhoo (drama . . . LOL) . . . ang haba pa ng hair ko noon ano? Ian, the guy in front in the lower right pic, is sporting a short hair cut. Ngayon, baliktad na kami LOL. God, we were so young! Now, Cyril and Jacqueline are moms to Don-don and R-yan (pronounced Arian) respectively. Of course, ninang ako hehehe . . . things have changed, yes, but one thing remains constant (aside from the barkada’s preference to pancit canton when getting together . . . haruy, nagka-urusa an mga kuripot hehehe) and that’s our friendship. Friends forever, indeed. Thanks guys for putting up with me and my crazy ways :-)

harry potter 6 and other things

Posted in Weblogs by phoenyx57 on July 11, 2005

Can’t wait for the book to come out this Saturday!! Not that I’ll be able to read it. I have to wait for the trade paperback from Scholastica( yun lang ang na-afford ko) and that’s not until (if I remember correctly) about a month after the hardcover edition comes out. Still, I don’t mind being spoiled, which I know will happen by Monday. I’ve started to read from book 1 to 5 in preparation for book 6.  Yes, I’m such a geek :-D . Can’t wait for the movie either, but that’s not till October or November.  I saw the trailer a week ago, and it was marvelous.

In the meantime, I’ve got several things lined up (to distract me from being envious about those in the US and UK who will be reading the book this weekend . . . damn it!) that will keep me busy for awhile. Here’s a peek at my todo list:

  • Social Profile thingy (too long of a title . . . can’t remember the rest) System for our System Analysis (haven’t made up my mind whether to use VB6 or VB . NET)
  • Bits and Bytes Website
  • Billing and Collection system for a government office (sorry, not allowed to tell which one . . . however if anyone out there knows where one can download a Clipper compiler, point me in the right direction please . . . thanks)
  • Cashier(?) system
  • Personal Library System for my book collection
  • Personal Website

Whew!  That’s only the top of my priority list and only less than a couple of months to finish the top 3 on the list. Then again, I do love a challenge, and once I get into the groove . . . so to speak, it’ll be hard for me to stop obsessing about making my projects perfect. See ya!

power of two

Posted in random blabs by phoenyx57 on July 9, 2005

One of my favorite songs. And I mean the original version not the one that was sung by Aiza Seguerra :-)

POWER OF TWO by the Indigo Girls

Now the parking lot is empty
Everyone’s gone someplace
I pick you up and in the trunk I’ve packed
A cooler and a 2-day suitcase
Cause there’s a place we like to drive
Way out in the country
Five miles out of the city limit we’re singing
And your hand’s upon my knee

So we’re okay
We’re fine
Baby I’m here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I’m stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We’ll look at them together then we’ll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that’s true
Multiply life by the power of two

You know the things that I am afraid of
I’m not afraid to tell
And if we ever leave a legacy
It’s that we loved each other well
Cause I’ve seen the shadows of so many people
Trying on the treasures of youth
But a road that fancy and fast
Ends in a fatal crash
And I’m glad we got off
To tell you the truth

Cause we’re okay
We’re fine
Baby I’m here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I’m stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We’ll look at them together then we’ll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that’s true
Multiply life by the power of two

All the shiny little trinkets of temptation
(make new friends)
Something new instead of something old
(but keep the old)
All you gotta do is scratch beneath the surface
(but remember what is gold)
And it’s fools gold
(what is gold)
Fools gold
(what is gold)
Fools gold

Now we’re talking about a difficult thing
And your eyes are getting wet
I took us for better and I took us for worse
Don’t you ever forget it
Now the steel bars between me and a promise
Suddenly bend with ease
The closer I’m bound in love to you
The closer I am to free

So we’re okay
We’re fine
Baby I’m here to stop your crying
Chase all the ghosts from your head
I’m stronger than the monster beneath your bed
Smarter than the tricks played on your heart
We’ll look at them together then we’ll take them apart
Adding up the total of a love that’s true
Multiply life by the power of two

faith of the heart

Posted in random blabs by phoenyx57 on July 7, 2005

After several days of talking with people and getting advice, I decided . . . hell what’s there to really decide about? I know I’ve been sorta not myself for the past year. Mild depression can do that.  Anyway, I’ve just been offered a job. A job that insures that I won’t end up just an encoder, but one where  I will actually use my hard-earned skills in programming.  Now, that’s my kind of work hehehe . . . and yes, I’m gonna take it ;-)

This song describes exactly what I feel right now :-)

FAITH OF THE HEART

It’s been a long road,
To get from there to here.
It’s been a long time,
but my time is finally here.

And I can feel a change in the wind right now.
Nothing’s in my way.
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more.
No they’re not gonna hold me down.

‘Cause I’ve got faith of the heart.
I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe.
I can do anything.
I’ve got strength of the soul.
And no one’s going to bend or break me.
I can reach any star.
I’ve got faith,
I’ve got faith,
Faith of the heart.

It’s been a long night,
Trying to find my way.
Been thru the darkness,
Now I finally have my day.

And I will see my dream come alive at last.
I will touch the sky.
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more.
No they’re not gonna change my mind.

‘Cause I’ve got faith of the heart.
I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe.
I can do anything.
I’ve got strength of the soul.
And no one’s going to bend or break me.
I can reach any star.
I’ve got faith,
Faith of the heart.

I know the wind’s so cold,
I’ve seen the darkest days.
But now the winds I feel,
Are only winds of change.
I’ve been thru the fire,
And I’ve been thru the rain,
But I’ll be fine.

‘Cause I’ve got faith of the heart.
I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe.
I can do anything.
I’ve got strength of the soul.
And no one’s going to bend or break me.
I can reach any star.
‘Cause I’ve got faith,
‘Cause I’ve got faith,
Faith of the heart…

Faith of the heart.
I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe.
And no one’s going to bend or break me.
I can reach any star.
‘Cause I’ve got faith,
‘Cause I’ve got faith,
Faith of the heart…

It’s been a Long Road…

sleep

Posted in random blabs by phoenyx57 on July 6, 2005

Have you ever liked a song just from reading the lyrics? I have . . . lots of times. I’ve had the lyrics to this song for years, but have never heard it (not even the title), until about a year ago. What can I say? I loved it even more. My thanks go to TN and Fanatic for introducing me to this beautiful song :-)

SLEEP

After your laughter like thunder
After your skin like coffee and cream
After it takes our bodies into the night
After we’ve come to the extreme

I want to lay down on your shoulder
Just inside your arm
I want to listen to your heart beat
And your breathing on and on
I want to lay down on your shoulder
Surrender to your peace
And go to sleep

And when we’ve gone a million miles
Made true our dreams with sweat and bone
After we’ve built it up with our bare hands
Made strong a place we can call home

And when the light in my eye is fading
When running water becomes too deep
Finally angels turn my fire to dust
And when my soul’s no longer mine to keep

I want to lay down on your shoulder
Just inside your arm
I want to listen to your heartbeat
And your breathing on and on
I want to lay down on your shoulder
Surrender to the peace
And just go to sleep

philosophy of loss

Posted in random blabs by phoenyx57 on July 5, 2005

Here’s a song that says it all . . . at least for me . . . about useless wars, discrimination and prejudice . . . basta I like it:

PHILOSOPHY OF LOSS by the Indigo Girls

welcome to why the church has died
and the heart of the exile and the kingdom of hate
who owns the land and keeps the commands
and marries itself to the state

modern scribes write in jesus christ
everyone is free
and the doors open wide to all straight men and women
but they are not open to me

who is teaching kids to be soldiers
to be marked by a plain white cross
and we kill just a little to save a lot more
the philosophy of loss

now there are a few who would be true
out of love and love is hard
and don’t think that our hands haven’t shoveled the dirt
over their central american graveyards

doctors and witch hunters stripped you bare
left you nothing for your earthly sins
yeah but who made this noise just a bunch of boys
and the one with the most toys wins

and who is teaching kids to be gamblers
life is a coin toss
and of course what you give up is what you gain
the philosophy of loss

whatever has happened to anyone else
could happen to you and to me
and the end of my youth was the possible truth
that it all happens randomly

so who is teaching kids to be leaders
and the way that it is is meant to be
the philosophy of loss

just a little quiz

Posted in random blabs by phoenyx57 on July 5, 2005

Found this a long time ago somewhere in the vast reaches of the Internet . . .

Try to answer each question immediately.
You may cheat on yourself by pressing and moving the left mouse button over the next lines to see the hidden answer.

1. What do you put in a toaster?
Answer :- Bread.
If you said “Toast”, then give up now and go and find yourself a Shoe Box, as you can’t handle life.
If you said “Bread”, then please progress on to question 2.

2. Say “Silk” 5 times. Now spell “Silk”.
What do cows drink?
Answer :- Water.
If you said “Milk”, then may I suggest that you do not try the next question, as it may seem that your brain cell is over taxed, you need a holiday.
May I suggest children’s world?
If you said “Water”, then you may go on to question 3.

3. If a Red house is made from Red bricks, a Blue house is made out of Blue bricks, a Pink house is made out of Pink bricks, a Black house is made out of Black bricks.
What is a Green house made out of?
Answer :- Glass.
If you said “Green bricks”, then what the hell are you still doing here reading these questions!!!!
If you said “Glass”, then please progress on to question 4.

4. 20 years ago a plane was flying at 20,000 ft, over the old country Germany, when 2 of the engines failed. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine was failing, decided a crash landing, but unfortunately the engine failed before time and the plane crashed smack bang in the land between East Germany and West Germany in the middle of the Berlin Wall.
Where would you bury the survivors, East Germany or West Germany?
Answer :- You don’t bury “survivors”.
If you said anything other than the sentence above then please never fly, you may cause more damage should the plane crash!!!
If you said the sentence above then carry on to question 5.

5. If on a clock the hour hand moves 1/60th of a degree every minute, then how many degrees will the hour hand travel in 1 hour?
Answer :- 1 degree.
If you said “360 degrees”, or anything other than the answer, may I congratulate you on getting this far?
But be honest with yourself, do you think you can handle the last and final question?
If you said “1 degree”, then please go on to the last question.

6. [Without using a calculator]
You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven (Wales).
In London 17 people get on the bus,
in Reading 6 people get off, 9 people get on,
in Swindon 2 people get off, 4 people get on,
in Cardiff 11 people get off, 16 people get on,
in Swansea 3 people get off, 5 people get on,
in Carmarthen, 6 people get off, 3 people get on.
The bus then pulls into Milford Haven bus depot.
What was the name of the bus driver?
Answer :- You.
Read the first line.
